Well? Did you? I found it to be pretty easy. From what I have played, I have hardly died during a boss battle. Some of it is a bit challenging but I find most of it to be quite easy. Apparently the difficulty was 'dumbed' down for the American release because they believed that it may have been too difficult for the American RPG fans. I don't believe that's right at all! How insulting! :-x
Some Rom hacks have been made so that people can go download them and it lets you play Final Fantasy IV with a higher difficulty level which would be pretty cool. There would be plenty of challenges then!
So what did you think of the difficulty of FFIV? Too easy? Or did you think it was just right? ;) :D

I found the game very challenging, especailly the Magus Sisters. But that may be because I played a Hacked Translated Japanese Rom version. In my personal opinion I tend to find the earlier the Final Fantasy games are the harder they are. _________________

actually, I believed the whole thing was really easy, the only problem I had in the whole game was the Dark elf, well that and Edge, the Dark Elf's 2nd form killed me once, both times I beat this game, and after you get the healing summon in the land of the summons or whatever it's called, It is really hard to die, as long as you use healing magic/summon at the right time, and Titan was really powerful, he seriously could get you through half the game, if you had the mana, and EDGE WOULDN'T STOP DYING, it was such a pain. _________________ I am now 2000 points away from top on Reptillia on GH3 on the PS3, currently 6th place of all PS3 Reptillia players

Nah, it wasn't that easy. Even a few random battles were better be avoided since some monsters need trained characters to beat them.
Also, some bosses were really hard, too. Take Baigan as an example. I've never lost that many times in a single battle. Furthermore, Zeromus was a tough cookie. Big Bang could deal massive damage to your whole party.
But of course a well-trained party and a bunch of great weapons and spells make the game much easier. _________________

I don't really think that this game was too easy. I thought that some of the bosses were pretty hard and even some enemies could defeat your party. Sure it could have been harder, but I thought it was ok. If you think it is too easy, then don't level up so much. Then you will think it is hard. |

Easy? This was the hardest game in the entire series.
1 - Undeveloped gameplay (compared to the later games, which is when I played IV) was frustrating at times and not unbalanced.
2 - Too much reliance on white magic.
3 - Enemies damage was way too high, requiring you to heal after every battle in the menu.
4 - The hardest villain of all time. Plus, getting to him is a handful, so to die is punishing. |

There is the 'easy type' and 'hard type' versions of the game. The original SNES Japanese game was very hard, and then the other SNES versions released were the 'easy type'.
The PSX release of the game was the 'hard type'. I still Have only died ever against the Wyvern (like 15 times in a row, it's gotta be the hardest freaking boss ever :P). Honestly I believe the game was one of the easier Final Fantasy games in terms of the bosses. Most of the bosses had a difficult feature, but it could be dismissed easily (such as Asura healing herself constantly. Cast wall on her and she will heal your party).
The only big difference I found with this game to the others is that in the second half of the game I would run from all enemies in the dungeons so as not to drain my mp from Rosa to heal them. The random battle enemies are very strong (but give very good exp and gil :P), but you can defeat them easily enough. This caused me to spend a lot of time grinding levels, rather than leveling up through the dungeons.
