Well here's my question to you. Out of any 2-D game out there that's old as in SNES, Sega, or any of those older game which one tickles your fancy the most.
Mine would be Super Metroid for SNES. I got it when I was about 7 or so and love the game. I still play it alot for memento's and for speed runs which I attempt. Overall it might be my favorite game ever.
So what's yours.

My favorite old school game would probably have to be either Streets of Rage or most of the games on the Atari 2600.
Streets of Rage was always a lot of fun for me to play. You could pick from three characters and walk around the streets fighting the baddies. It was great fun, I used to invite my friends over to play as well. It was a lot of fun and it entertained us for hours. I never finished the game though. My brother and I tried to complete the game but we both died on the final level which was a total bummer. It's difficult towards the end!
A lot of games on my old Atari are classic. A lot of them were like Space Invaders, you could shoot things down from the sky. I used to love playing Pitfall on that system, it was a lot of fun. I used to be pretty bad at it. I would end up getting eaten by an alligator normally which was annoying. I could never jump over a river properly lol. _________________

I can't believe no one has mentioned the game 'Elite' on either bbcb or acorn, this was in the age before playstation and the fantastic Final Fantasy 9. You get to command a spaceship and travel between worlds and universes, this game was huge and I dont just mean in its time.
I used to go up against the nearest spaceport and attack the defending ships that come out, lol the best parts were finding yourself landing into a really tough world from galactic hyperspace and fighting your way through countless hordes of enemy ships.
Not to mention there were other things to keep you occupied, trading in illegal or leagal goods, missions and trying to pick up alien artifacts dropped by their mothership. |

Golden Axe is another classic game that I really like, Rufus is also a fan of this game! It's a lot of fun and a lot of people seem to remember it! I was never able to finish the game though because I always found it too hard, even when playing 2 player with a friend. 2 player was always the best, it usually turned out hilarious in the end. I'm just plain bad at the game but I still like it a lot. I have the game on a Sega Classics PS2 game along with many other classic games from my childhood. Playing it brings back a lot of memories!
I love the old Sonic games as well, they are addictive and loads of fun. I always seem to lose all the golden rings I pick because I keep running into enemies, it's really frustrating at times. _________________

This was by far my most favorite game of the Sega platform. I absolutely LOVE Golden Axe. I didn't know that it was re-released for the PS2. I'm gonna have to look for it now.
I was also a big fan of strategy/simulation games for the SNES. I play alot of SimCity, SimCity2000, and Genghis Khan 2: Clan of the Grey Wolf. _________________ Kickin butt is our business, and business is good. |

omg.. i just recently dug up some old disk holders for my 15yr old pc that we still keep in our attic, anyway.. I find Repton 3, Repton Thru Time, Codename: Droid, Frak!, Cosmic Camoflage and Bonecrusher. the pictures are in black & white but on the screen i can remember it in colour. The games came in multiples of 4 or something and the title reads 'Play it again Sam' wow its great.
Oo and the comp was *BBC Micro and Acorn Electron. _________________

And yes, I do have several of most older consoles. I like importing.... :D
And yes, I did base this somewhat on the list above, it's just I have a crap memory and my older consoles are packed away for a while. Currently paying Phantasy Star III again via the PS2 and the PAL Sega Megadrive collection. III being the only PS game I don't own an old school sega cart of....
