There has been a Theory raised about the game where many people beleive that Relm is Shadow's daughter. This is evident from a number of clues throughout the game.
-Shadow's dog acts as if it knows Relm.
-Shadow and Relm are the only two characters who can equip Momento Ring.
-Strago is not Relm's real grandfather
Quoted from Wikipedia "Further evidence can be heard if Shadow is among those taken to the top of Kefka's Tower. As the party shouts their cries of hope and love, Shadow says "I know what friendship is...and family". This implies he has met a family member over the course of the game."
What do the rest of you think?

he was never "officially" Relm's father, but yes, if you watch Shadow's Dreams (if you're not sure how to watch these, I'll be more than happy to help.) it encourages very strongly that Shadow is indeed Relm's father.
That is an interesting theory. I have heard about this quite a few times and believe that it could be true. There are just certain events that happen as stated above that make it sound like they are father and daughter. It would make a lot of sense to me if they were, it would make the storyline more interesting. It's a shame that they didn't announce it at all during the game, I think they just want us to guess.

It reminds me of Final Fantasy VIII where everybody knows that Laguna is Squall's father. They never announce it but there are certain clues that link them and Kiros says something which makes it obvious towards the end of the game. I suppose we just have to guess in the end.
now that i think about it i really think that Relm is shadows daughter. intercepter kinda helps in believing that they are related. did you notice intercepter never went near anyone but shadoe & relm. yet shadow said that intercepter is not friendly to anyone but hinself. but then there is the fact that shadows partner in crime had the same last name as relm. so i kinda think that relm is related to shadow but not as family _________________ Bekki - sister

I was actually surprised to see this. It was my understanding, even through my first playthrough that Shadow was Relm's father. I guess I just noticed things which subconsciously registered or something. And I only noticed the possible Squall/Laguna relationship in FF:VIII on my second playthrough.
