An odd comparison you might add, you may be correct, however these movies are quite similar in many ways.
Granted, the LOTR movies do not mach up to the book, I have not read it myself but from what I have been told the book are much better.

So this poll is about what you prefer, not what you like, if you like them both, pick one ;)

Anyway, you might still be wondering about what is so similar between a Sci-fi series and a fantasy triology. What is Star Wars about? Intergalactic war, love, a human desire of standing victorious against a stronger and evil foe among other things of course. In LOTR you have exactly the same things except of course the intergalactic war part.

For a while, I thought that LOTR was better than Star Wars but I have changed my mind, LOTR could have been a lot better and they shouldn't have changed the story the way they did so my vote is Star Wars all the way.

Well I would have to vote for Lord of the Rings on this one. I liked it before Star Wars, I only got into SW pretty recently unlike LOTR which I began to love around five years ago when the first movie came out.

Lord of the Rings is such a wonderful trilogy that makes you feel happy and sometimes sad. The battle scenes are incredible and the soundtrack is just beautiful. I believe the films were very well made and I'm very happy with how they all turned out. I love FoTR and RoTK the most.

Star Wars is cool too and I very much like it but I just like Lord of the Rings more. It's a very special trilogy in my opinion and has one of the sweetest endings I have ever seen! :D

my vote is hands down on LOTR...... I love fantasy..... but never got into sci-fi....... I mean i play D&D..... actually I DM....anyways.... LOTR is pretty much like D&D....... but i hever liked games like rifts, which is a sci-fi roleplaying game....... I never liked sci-fi.... yeah.... so my vote is hand's down on LOTR

i love LOTR its awsome i have the battle chst with all of tam i love leagoles and argoen and well all of tam i like the bad guys to lol but i like the stroy line the most its got a good one i tink but i gess you will have to tell me what you tink of it ^_^

I love star wars cause it was so fantastic that time
to see those weird things on tv and go in to hyper space with Han Solo
and the gang and I never stoped loving it
I know that it is not a real reason some things from muy youth so here it comes

take the original trilogy its about Luke and his journey to jedi hood
than you have episode I II III its about Anakin and his journey to jedi hood and the down fall of it
but if you would put them all to gether (+ Clone wars cartoons)you will see that the story was about Anakin all along
how he escaped slavery, his Jedi training, his secrets, and how the war made him a Hero (novel from epIII), his friendship,love and loyalty to people,
Conflict and his down fall. how he became dart vader and that he did bad things in name of the empire and how he was in another conflict in ROTJ
and in the end he became the person he once was because he saved his son

okay now we have a mini essay about anakin
but wat I wanted to tell you is that star wars is much more than just
dog fights, saber fights gun fights and some wierd lines
there is really great stuff just not in your face like LOTR
like Lotr star wars has themes like Hope Friendship Loyalty
love Hate...ect

and remember

Hate leads to suffering
