I have noticed that a lot of people seem to dislike this game. I haven't played this game for myself but would like to. Lots of people seem to talk badly about it. Why is this so? Is it the characters? Or was it perhaps the storyline? It looks like it's a great game so why are people bashing it?
Are you a fan of this game or not? Please state your opinions on why you like/dislike this game.

Yeah beniboo is right. Its just missing something. Its been a long time since ive played it but i remember I never got into it. Maybe because it wasnt at all realistic compared to VII VIII and X. everything was too fairy talish. _________________ "Its the emotion in the things you do that affects the ones around you." |

Okay I hope you don't mind me taking a little shortcut, this is a post I made in another forums to answer a question all most the same as yours, the question was "Why isn't FFIX as popular as other FFs?"
and I replied
"I really don't know. At first I thought it might be that it wasn't as good as 7, 8 and 10 after my first play through. But then I recently played through it again and it was brilliant easily comparing with 7, 8 with maybe 7 squeezing out on top. Then I played X and while great first time through I found that it actually wasn't a good as FF9.
FF9 is without a doubt one of the funnest FF games and that may be it's downfall. Most people were introduced into Final Fantasy with no. 7 and so they had already developed an expectation that Final Fantasy meant Science-Fiction, Deep dark characters, Dark storyline and many other things. These were further reinforced in FF8 again Sci-fi even more dark and serious characters and basically brought Final Fantasy further towards and Adult Audience.
Then FF9 was released and it completely erased the canvas with a early industrial age fantasy that looked very medieval and the characters look very cartoony and became more of a funny kind of strange, (VIVI). Not that this meant any decrease in Square's story telling abilities or in the overall quality of the game. But people were now Fans of mature looking, Science fiction RPGs and so the game was no doubt a disapointment to many for that reason only." _________________

Sorry to bump a semi-old topic. P:
The only people who didn't enjoy FFIX are ignorant people. [/joke]
But seriously, FFIX is easily one of my favorite FF's. Battling, 4-player parties, 2-player control, everything was very well done. Nobuo Uematsu's contributions to the game, including Hunter's Chance and Vamo'Alla Flamenco, are, in my opinion, some of his best work. There were many sidequests, and none of them redundant or boring, giving this game some killer total time completions. The only real problem I had with this game is the final boss, which, *Spoiler*, literally came out of thin air. _________________

I agree, it's far and away one of the best in the series, dare i say even better than VII--in my opinion.
It's a good story, good characters, plenty of sub quests and mini games, and hidden secrets.
Why a lot of ppl don;t like it is due to them putting FFVII being put up as godlike by first time rpger's who thought every rpg should look like VII |

The game was one of the better ones really.
It's just that people complained about the graphics, especially character design --- the way they look like and children and so on.
But meh, they really should take a look at the storyline, because that's what really counts in good games.
So no, I don't think it's a bad game either. In fact, I think it's excellent. |

If you want a perfect game Save go on GameFaqs and look in "other Faqs" for a FAQ call "Excalibur II Percfect Save Game" or something like that. You can't miss a thing with this FAQ. It includes (in 1 save of course...):
-Excalibur II,
-Aall missable items/treasure chests,
-All Key items,
-All rare items as much as the game allows you (1 pumice,3 pumice pieces, 8 Dark Matters stuff like that)
-All quest Done
-EVERTYHING
But it is EXTREMELY HARD, haven't tried the challenge for myself yet. I need a PS2 for it.
FF IX is easily one of my favorites and it is the first time i hear people complaing about it or even saying it lacked of something....
