Do you prefer widescreen or fullscreen? Widescreen is the only way to go. The widescreen version is the way the director intended the film to be seen, and the fullscreen version is not. Most motion pictures are shot in either 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Due to the current limitations of domestic television sets, 2.35:1 aspect ratio films always show horizontal black bars, but you will still see the whole picture (not part of it). Pan and scan is the common method used in VHS, formatting the film to fit a 1.33:1 television screen.

I'm actually not too keen on widescreen! I have a fullscreen television and prefer it that way. I don't like widescreen because of the black bars on the television when you watch a movie, I find it annoying. I watch movies on my computer and it's widescreen.. I'm not a big fan of it. I know fullscreen has its limitations but I still like it! I'm old school. J/k. _________________

Widescreen is better. I've seen the differance before on tv as an extra thing during the commercial break. They've shown bits in the movie as a review with full screen and it looks bad. They have to pan and scan which is weird when 2 are talking and they have to pan over to someone off camera even though they're not. On widescreen you see what you should, plain and simple. Widescreen. _________________

Depends on the TV, really. Widescreen format can't provide a large enough picture if it is 32" or lower, so if it's a small TV set I prefer 4:3 ratio.
If the TV is big however (above 32") Widescreen totally owns, but then it depends on the movie. Some movies has a messed up Widescreen format which barely uses half the screen and that annoys the hell out of me. Luckily I can adjust the ratio settings on both my computer and the TV. w00t
Either way, if I got a choise, between those two formats, and TV size didn't matter then I would go for the 18:8 (Widescreen), it looks better, it suits our eyes better, menaing the human eye uses the side vision more than you might know.
Also Widescreen makes games more fun to play, especially driving sims :D _________________
